At Ethic Advertising Agency, we collectively pick, read, and discuss one book per year, and many of our teammates and colleagues read additional professional books through out the year. Below are our 2022 top 6 reads.
6. Often Wrong, Never in Doubt by Donny Deutsch:
This is the biography of how advertising mogul and big personality, Donny Deutsch built a $300mm ad agency. A truly fascinating story for anyone with ad agency experience.
5. The Power of Nice by Linda Kaplan Thaler and Robin Koval:
Discover how to leverage “the power of nice” methodology that was followed and developed by the brilliant minds behind the Aflac duck, Toys R Us’s jiggle, and more iconic brands, Linda Kaplan Thaler and Robin Koval. Linda and Robin take you through stories and actionable practices of how they grew and succeeded in the extremely competitive landscape that is NYC advertising through being good, nice people.
4. Built to Sell by John Warrillow:
The fictional book, Built to Sell, was written as a story to showcase how our lead character, Alex, was able to sell his creative agency by niching his services down and bringing a productization to his service industry. The storytelling method that this book was written in makes it easy to read, but it is packed full of amazing information for any entrepreneur looking to build a profitable, sellable company.
3. The Presentation Secrets of Steve Jobs by Carmine Gallo:
You would be hard-pressed to find someone who experienced a Steve Jobs presentation and didn’t think he was one of the greatest presenters of all time. Steve was brilliant, but there was 1,000% a method to his brilliance. The Presentation Secrets of Steve Jobs breaks down how Steve was able to present at such a high, consistent, and engaging level, and how you can dramatically improve your presentations as well.

This book is the best, step-by-step guide to growing a successful business. It follows the EOS system, but any company leader that reads this book will come away with action items they will be excited to implement within their own company. A must read for anyone who wants to be a leader in business and give their company Traction.

Contagious is Ethic Advertising Agency’s 2022 team book club selection. It brings scientific explanations and real life examples together to explanations why certain brandings, messages, advertising, and information catch on and spread. If you have anything to do with the creative side of branding, advertising, sales, and marketing…this book will elevate your game.
